We believe in staffing our centers with only the most caring and energetic people.  We attract exceptional individuals because of our reputation as leaders in the child care industry, competitive wages, and our generous benefits package. Because we want to encourage our Directors to continue with their career at Bar-T, and grow professionally, we have outlined a clear “Career Track” to guide them to success.

The following outlines the framework of the different levels that Directors can achieve. All Directors must reach Level One in order to be offered a Director position. All Directors are assessed and considered for promotions during the End of Year Review process in May and June.

LEVEL ONE

CRITERIA

SALARY & BONUSES

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Successful completion of 90-hour school age course
  • Successful completion of 45-hour Admin course
  • Successful completion of Medical Tech Training
  • Successful completion of the EPP Training
  • Successful completion of the American’s with Disabilities Act Training
  • A minimum of 24 hours of Core of Knowledge Trainings completed annually (at least 12 hours must be in-person trainings facilitated by Bar-T)
  • MD Excels Credentialing at a Level 2
  • Completion of the Bar-T DIT or ELAB Training Program
  • A minimum of 400 hours of experience working with school age children in a licensed child-care center

LEVEL TWO

CRITERIA

SALARY & BONUSES

  • Completion of Level One Criteria
  • Education and/or Experience:
    • Option #1: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field
    • Option #2: Associate’s Degree in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field AND a minimum of 4 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
    • Option #3: A minimum of 6 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Director of a Bar-T child care program
  • Consistent performance at a high level including staff relations, school community relations, programming, creativity, professionalism, and administrative duties

LEVEL THREE

CRITERIA

SALARY & BONUSES

  • Completion of Level Two Criteria
  • Education and/or Experience
    • Option #1: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field AND 6 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
    • Option #2: Associates Degree in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field AND 8 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
    • Option #3: Maryland Credentialed at a level 4+ or higher AND 10 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
  • A minimum of 6 years experience as a Director of a Bar-T child care program
  • Membership in OCCD (Organization of Child Care Directors)
  • Develops and successfully executes, on an annual basis, a professional growth and development plan based upon self-assessment, Bar-T review, and supervisor feedback.
  • Participates in a Bar-T Committee (e.g. Sports, Break Programs, Field Trips, etc.)
  • Must be available, on a daily basis, between the morning and afternoon shifts
  • When needed, must hold a summer leadership position at a Bar-T Summer Camp Program

LEVEL FOUR

CRITERIA

  • Completion of Level Three Criteria
  • Education and/or Experience
    • Option #1: Master’s Degree or higher in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field AND 8 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
    • Option #2: Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field AND 10 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program”
  • A minimum of 8 years experience as a Director of a Bar-T child care program
  • Consistent performance at the highest level including staff relations, school community relations, programming, creativity, professionalism, and administrative duties
  • Is a State of Maryland certified trainer and conducts a minimum of three trainings per year available to Bar-T Staff
  • Is a Professional Mentor to a new or emerging Director at Bar-T as determined in coordination with the Kids Club Leadership Team
  • Chairs a Bar-T Committee

LEVEL FIVE

CRITERIA

  • Completion of Level Four Criteria
  • Education and/or Experience
    • Option #1: Doctorate’s Degree in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field AND 10 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
    • Option #2: Master’s Degree or higher in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, or a related field AND 12 years experience as a Director of a licensed child care program
  • A minimum of 10 years experience as a Director of a Bar-T child care program
  • Has held a Board level position with a youth development organization and maintains an ongoing active leadership role within that organization

  • TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
    • Bar-T will reimburse you for up to $5000 for successful completion of a higher education degree.
