Teambuilding Elements

Our team has been running Challenge Courses for over 12 years. Focusing on teamwork, our facility goes much further than trust falls and rope crossings. When team members reach the top of our 50 foot tower by physically lifting each other up each rung of a ladder, they have accomplished something truly noteworthy.
Mountainside's state of the art Challenge Course has been developed and built to challenge both individual and group goals. Or if you simply want a day to celebrate your group's successes and reward your members, we would be happy to make your day at the Challenge and Retreat Center as comfortable and fun as possible.
Our staff strives to provide an experience which will be as valuable to the individual as to the group. While our program can be customized to focus on any aspect of group interaction, some of the more common areas are:
- Establishing Trust between Team Members
- Leadership and Delegation
- Developing Problem Solving Skills
- Recreation
- Improving Communication
- Orienting New Team Members
Low Ropes
Our Low Ropes course is the perfect place to
work on the group dynamic. These activities are introduced early on in
a group's time at the Challenge and Retreat Center and follow a
progressive difficulty scale so the simpler challenges are done first.
The
Incomplete Bridge - Groups are posed with the challenge of reaching
four platforms with only the aid of two planks, neither of which are
long enough to walk across. It is the ultimate in testing how well a
group communicates.
Whale Watch - An octagonal balance beam, which tests a group's communication, balance, and patience.
3D
Spiders Web - This activity challenges a group to stay connected while
maneuvering through a web of obstacles. For a group to be successful in
this challenge they need to strong leadership and foresight to handle
problems coming down the road.
Tension Traverse - An
exciting challenge which puts two participants facing each other on
diverging wires, which they must try and walk down while slowly getting
further and further from each other. To succeed a pair must listen to
their peers, trust in each other, and provide support to their partner.
High Ropes
The
High Ropes are the culminating activity for any group that comes to the
Challenge and Retreat Center. They incorporate the lessons learned on
the Low Ropes, and require a group's full attention and cooperation to
conquer. There are few experiences as exhilarating and rewarding as
these.
Climbing Tower - Our climbing tower offers six different climbs to participants. Each one requires a different technique, or even a partner to overcome.
Leap of Faith - a 30ft telephone poll with a platform on top, from which a participant must leap for a trapeze bar a few feet away. Even taking the leap of faith is a great accomplishment but catching the bar is an experience you will never forget.Giant Swing - Two participants are hooked in and pulled to the top of a 30ft telephone poll, at which point they pull a ripcord and swing back and forth at heights reaching 50ft.
Zip Line - Participants use ten different rope bridges to reach the top of our 40ft tower, from which point they and a peer leap off and ride down our dual zip lines 700ft to our landing area.
