The Bar-T Experience

When Bar-T Kids Club opened its doors in 1985 to nine boys from Laytonsville Elementary, our goal was to provide them with choices, interesting activities, and an opportunity to grow and discover their true potential.

More than 30 years later, our family owned and operated business has grown, but our mission has stayed the same.

The Mission of Bar-T is to provide a unique experience in all of the programs we offer.

We strive to treat all children and adults as individuals.

We provide choices, and we listen, show respect and keep everyone safe.

We help people remember they are of great worth.

Our Programs

Bar-T provides Montgomery and Frederick County families with multiple choices that provide year-round programs for their children. During the school year we operate 35 Kids Club before and aftercare programs, 4 preschool classrooms, and two Early Childhood programs. When school is out for the summer, our Early Childhood program at Thurgood Marshall stays open and our school-age friends get to pick from our 10 summer camps. From the Ranch in Laytonsville, Mountainside in Urbana, and Kids Camps across Montgomery County, we provide camp experiences like none other and memories that will last a lifetime.

Shaping Our Experiences

We treat each and every one of the 4,500 children in our programs as individuals by providing them with meaningful choices. This begins with allowing, and encouraging, our Directors to shape programming to suit the needs of their individual children. At Bar-T, we love exploring STEM through Harvest Club with Farmer Nick and Traveling STEM Specialist – Professor Ross. At one program, the kids demand gaga every day, yet at another program, kids may love it when a staff member teaches them the basics of American Sign Language.

Choices to Help Them Grow

We recognize that parents are busier than ever and are being pulled in multiple directions. Parents are often faced with the challenge of picking a camp, program, or activity that meets their child’s interest and their own scheduling needs.

Instead of asking “Which camp do you want to go to all summer?” or “Which sport do you want to play this fall?,” take a deep breath and rest assured that Bar-T has the choices to make everyone happy. Not only do the children at Bar-T have the chance to participate in many different activities, which opens the door for them to discover something they genuinely love, but we listen to their interests and have them guide us to make sure our programming reflects their individual needs. We respect everyone’s individuality and, by giving children choices, we help kids grow.
