Camp Overview

  • Ages 9-13 Years Old
  • Mountainside

Climbing Camp gives campers a beginner opportunity to explore climbing. During the week, campers will have an opportunity to climb both climbing walls and natural rock  formations in a variety of locations. They will get an intro to climbing, learn some techniques, and challenge themselves in a repel. Our level 2 climbers will also be adventuring to a bouldering trail to traverse a series of rock formations.

Based at Bar-T Mountainside, campers will arrive at Mountainside and depart on our Adventure Camp Bus after Team Time. We will travel with the children to Raven Rocks, Billy Goat Section A for our Bouldering Adventure, and Carterock near potomac to repel. We’ll also take advantage of our climbing walls at the Ranch and Mountainside. Campers will arrive back at Mountainside by 3pm and will be dismissed with the rest of the Mountainside campers.

Please note that our trips may change days and locations for weather events, trail or park closures, general group ability and/or environmental hazards. We will send out an email each week before camp begins with our schedule and will update you of any changes.

Camp Activities

While our outstanding counselors ensure that there is no limit to the fun with a continuously evolving list of activities, we know that it can be helpful to see the types of activities that make up our camper’s days. Below you will find a video outlining the epic climbing fun that happens at our Bar-T locations.

Facilities

Bar-T Mountainside, located in Frederick County just minutes from I-270, is a 115 acre farm which was built from the ground up as a summer camp. At Mountainside, your camper will have the opportunity to build their self esteem on our adventure course, embrace their curiosity by searching for crayfish and salamanders in our stream, expand their creativity at arts & crafts or music and dance, challenge their peers in sports and games, and most importantly make new friends with the other Mountainside campers and staff.

Mountainside features a 700ft zip line, 50ft climbing wall, expansive pool with slide, manicured ball fields, playground, basketball court, street hockey rink, outdoor amphitheater, fishing pond, and over a mile of hiking trails. There are nearly limitless possibilities for what your child could experience in a given day.

Transportation

Bar-T provides bus transportation to and from camp each day for an additional fee of $50 per week. A Bar-T staff member meets our families at each of our transportation sites and rides the bus to and from camp to help ensure our camper’s safety. Bar-T staff will arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled bus departure to check our campers in and answer any questions parents may have. We ask that our parents remain on site until after the bus has departed to help ensure everyone’s safety. Our staff will help make sure that our campers reach their group with a smile on their face each morning and will remain at the transportation site each afternoon until all campers have been picked up.

Check out our map to find the bus stop that is most convenient for your family.

Extended Care

For families that need coverage beyond the camp day, we offer extended care options at Ranch, Mountainside, Kids Camps, and select sites that allow campers to arrive as early as 7am and stay as late as 6:30pm. This extended care option is offered on a weekly basis and families can choose morning extended care ($60) and/or afternoon extended care ($80). Campers who attend extended care will not be charged a transportation fee.
