Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of a weather-related closing or delay, we follow the MCPS Administrative Offices and FCPS Color Code to determine our opening status:

School Closures:

• When schools and administrative offices are closed (Code Yellow and Code Red for Frederick County): Bar-T will be closed.
• When schools are closed, but administrative offices are open (Code Orange and Code Blue for Frederick County): Bar-T will open on time at 6:30am.
• When schools are closed and administrative offices close before the end of the day, Bar-T will remain open, but will ask parents to pick up their children as soon as possible.

School Delays:

• When schools have a two hour delayed opening and administrative offices are open: Bar-T will open on time at 6:30am and remain open until school begins.
• When schools and administrative offices have a two hour delayed opening: Bar-T will open at 9:00am.

Communicating Closures or Delays:

If school is closed, or delayed, due to inclement weather, Bar-T will share our status through the following methods:

• Check your email… we’ll email you as soon as we know anything.
• Watch local TV stations for announcements from Bar-T
• Follow on our Facebook page
• Check our website home page. There will be a red box at the very top of the page with a link to this alert page.
• When in doubt, reach out to your Director via email or telephone.
